Brown-eyed Stare

Today's Daily Om: Completion

As usual, there's a message in here for me, somewhere. (BTW, the day is
getting better.... Amazing how much better one can feel after a good
breakfast & a decent cup of coffee...perhaps I should learn to forestall
my judgment on the day until after I've fed. An interesting
thought....).

And I just had someone's journal remind me of something I've known for
years (and yes, have also forgotten): Pain is inevitable; suffering is
optional, however. (Right on, Smart Lady -- thanks for reminding me.)

History....

"Why of course the people don't want war.... that is understood. But
after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and
it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a
democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist
dictatorship.... Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to
do the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is
to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for
lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger.
It works the
same in any country."

-- Hermann Goering, Head of the Nazi Army, at the Nuremburg Trials, 18
April 1946.
