Do you rinse your sinuses? Seriously, times like this is what it's for.

Unfortunately, when I'm plugged and swollen like this, I dump the water from the Neti pot in, and it goes... nowhere. It runs, instead, down the side of my face. :-P Once I can get the passages open, then the rinse helps. *nods*

I actually don't use a neti pot, just a little cup. I need to blow my nose enough that I can breath a little, and then I kind of sip liquid from the cup, but through my nose, one nostril at a time. (I was doing this long before I heard of net pots. When I got one, it just didn't seem to have a lot of advantages -- I was really good at using a cup by then.)

After I rinse my sinuses, I blow my nose a bunch. And then rinse them some more.

I swear by Claritin-D, because large doses of pseudoephedrine are the only thing that will carve through the mucous when I get that way.

The other secret weapon I have is a vaccuum cleaner. Seriously. Just be very careful and keep your mouth open.

Zyrtec D might do the trick for me (Claritin no longer works)... but a vacuum cleaner? Wow.... Am not sure we have correct... appendage... for ours, for me to do that. ;-)

Be really careful with this -- for many people Zyrtec is drying enough that it won't allow you to clear a sinus infection if you have one. (This can happen with other antihistamines, but Zyrtec is one of the worst.)

Also, the Northwest Asthma and Allergy Clinic rocks. Totally changed my life. OMG, I basically no longer get awful sinus infections, and I don't end up in the hospital once a year with bronchial infections, and I have way more lung capacity, which means I can work out way more intensely and it *feels good*.

NW Asthma & Allergy cClinic, eh? Sounds like I need to ask for a referral. :-) Thanks!

Oh god, the sinuses

Wolfieboy has terrible sinus problems sometimes too. My sympathies.

Try eating something hot and very spicy. It will cause your sinuses to drain.

Yes, like pico de gallo. That is the best. Or some doctored up hot and sour soup...?
