Long Time Gone? (State of the Deb)
It's been a while since I posted 'everyday stuff' so here goes:

Um... let's see...

I'm working downtown (in a permanent position) for a large doctor's organization; I book appointments for patients at 7 different locations. It's good work and I like it, even if the patients are crabby and short-tempered sometimes. And I enjoy being back in healthcare, even if it is in a 'secondary capacity.' I *really like* the people I work with, and am glad that we are working on becoming more efficient (because sometimes the processes we have make me feel like Sisyphus). When it comes to people's health, I really *hate* being 'half-assed' about anything, and I no longer have the authority to correct problems on my own (I am no longer a Pharm tech in MI, and I am not certified in WA). That frustrates me, but for now, things are going well.

I still have the ability to go back to school (for Pharmacy or Pharm tech - I don't know which), but with the weird cold/cough/flu/virus I had this winter, I've been mostly concentrating on trying to rest and get well w/o gaining weight. :-P I thought my health problems would be over when I got rid of the cancer -- but no, I still have lots of stuff to plough through. And not having the ligaments, and internal structure that the removed muscles gave me, makes a lot of things much more difficult. :-P I try not to be too down about it, and I remind myself that at least I am no longer sick, and I didn't have to have chemo (I repeat that last bit to myself at least a dozen times a day). So, a decent part of my life recently has revolved around getting better, and that includes trying to sleep the whole night through with my sleep mask on (I have sleep apnea, and wear a CPAP mask, but sometimes tear it off in the night). I feel like Darth Vader with that thing on, but I think it may be helping.

On other fronts, I have a roommate and a house. We are working to make more room in it for me, and for the stuff I still have stored over in my sweetie's garage (I'm very thankful for his and his mate's generostity). I play in a D&D game near his house every other Friday night, and am in another D&D game every other Sunday or so (DM'd by my rommmate). And I'm having a LOT of fun with gaming (I didn't play as a kid/teen/college person -- I started w/the Friday group last year, and they are pretty patient with my newbie-ness.)

My roommate and I have cable (TV and internet), and I have to confess that I watch TV as a major source of entertainment (mostly things I ought not, on VH1 -- and Torchwood, which is my current addiction). And this evening, another one of my sweeties is coming over to install a wireless router, so I can get on the net at home w/my wireless card (currently only my roommate's computer is hooked up). Yaay for being able to get email and read LJ at home!!

As for other things, I'm also working on an outside project for work. I participate in something there called 'Service Stars' -- which meets on 3 different Saturdays, and which requires a final presentation to my peers. I'm teaming up w/someone, and we're teaching on 'Cultural Competence;' it should be really interesting, because we want to present to our peers (people who interact with patients solely on the phone) as well as to the whole staff at each of our 7 clinics. It's a lot to bite off, but I'm really looking forward to doing it; I have some excellent information, and I think it'll help all of us to learn more about our diverse patients.

I still don't have a computer strong enough to play WoW yet, but I'm working on it. :-) And I'm looking forward to summer, because we live close to Angle Lake, and we're gonna go swimming there! :-) And we hope to have several barbeques at our house this summer as well.

That's about it for now. I'll try to write again soon.

**Hugs** to all.

Hey, nice to see you posting.

You do a similar job to what my husband does, and he tells me crabby patient stories, too. :)
