Cindy (cindygerb) Update

Jim and I went to go see cindygerb this evening. She is still at NW hospital, but is now in the ICU (3rd floor), and we were lucky to be let in to see her.

She's had surgery, and seems to be doing ok [although I remember what being intubated felt like (albeit vaguely), and I'm VERY glad she's drugged to the gills]. She barely fluttered her eyelids when we came in and spoke to her, but she wiggled her eyebrows when I stroked her hair, and when Jim said her name (not bad for the meds she's on).

They're draining her stomach also (as a precaution for the lung tubes), and have done something about her insulin, so she should be okay in that department, too. And they are keeping a close watch on her toe, as well (am glad she has good nurses).

Depending on how she's doing tomorrow, she may or may not have her breathing/stomach tubes removed, and may be released from ICU back to a regular hospital room. We can hope.

The State of the Cranium is: : tired tired

ICU?

That sure doesn't sound normal for lap surgery...

Re: ICU?

Lap surgery? I don't think the surgery was on her lap (snicker)... but they have her on the breather to keep inflating the 'icky lung' after having gone in to 'scrape it out' as Dave said. (Um, EW.) And I asked after her 'things' from the 5th floor room -- and they are holding them for her, for when she returns. :-)

It was WONDERFUL of you to help with the laptop; I know that means a LOT to Cindy. :-) **hugs**

Re: ICU?

We'll try to see her tomorrow if she can have visitors, but if you see her before tomorrow night, please give her my love.

Re: ICU?

Good. I told her (although it's dubious as to whether she really heard it well), that you'd be by soon to see her, as well as Lisa, Jim and me.

Re: ICU?

I might send my husband, since I have no immune system and hospitals are very bad ju-ju for me.

Is she still in ICU?

Re: ICU?

From what I heard, she's in ICU for Wed and possibly today (Thurs).

Re: ICU?

She has a lot of other things going on that they have to be careful about. The diabetes, for one. And they have to re-inflate the lung, which is not trivial.
